Home sweet Tanzanian Home

Rehema and some of the babies playing outside
They say home is where the heart is, if this is true then I feel I must have two hearts! After 10 weeks home in Kansas I am happy to return back to my home in Tanzania. It was a wonderful 10 weeks with family, friends and a bit of fundraising. I am happy to be back at the WIL Community Center with all of the women and children. I missed them so much! Its amazing how all quickly children grow. When I left Princess, Prickett and Nasra where all crawling and now they are running!! They were a little hesitant toward me when I first returned but now they are back to being my cuddle buddies.
My little sister Kelsey is volunteering with us this month.

Ugi (porridge) time!

Jason teaching Reuben and Rehema how to use their new donated iPhones. iPhones are great to have here. We can send pictures, text and videos from one iPhone to another for free where ever we are in the world! Its a great way for me to get updates no matter where I am.

While we were in the United States the owner of a wonderful place called A Fabulous Find, Sharon, gave us a free booth to sell our women's items. It is the perfect place to showcase and sell our WIL quilts, jewelry, etc. When Kelsey returns the end of June she will be carrying all new items for out booth. A Fabulous Find is located at 5330 Martway in Mission, Kansas. Here are some photos of our booth.

I have recently set up a fundraiser on FB through our Etsy page. We desperately need cots and cribs for our children. Right now they are sleeping on matts on the floor. If you are interested in helping us provide cots/cribs for our children and buying a one of a kind, handmade WIL quilt please visit our Etsy store by clicking on the link. You can also view our FB Fundraisor Page.

These are samples of the toddler bunk beds we would like to make for the children at our center. Each bed is $200 plus $50 for mattresses.

We also decided to purchase a guard dog after Reuben and Rehema told me about a sting of robberies in our area. He is tiny now but soon he will be big and offer great protection for the community center.

Here is a list of our upcoming  events
Quilt Drive-Happening NOW! to raise money for cots/cribs and outdoor play equipment
September 21st- WIL 5K Day! Registration details coming soon

Future programs at the WIL Community Center
Every M,W,F we hold English classes
June 12th- we are holding a class on how to make beads out of newspaper
June 30- we will start our classes on how to make beaded sandals
July 15th - we will start jewelry making classes
September - we will be holding a two week course on nanny training. We are lucky to have Nicola Fortune from Australia come and train some local women on how to be a daycare provider. Once the women graduate from the program they will receive certificates and we will start an Arusha Nanny database where local orphanages, preschool, and families can hire trained daycare providers.
Robinson still needs a sponsor!

At the moment none of our children are sponsored. In order for us to be able to take more children into our daycare we NEED to get our current children sponsored. If you are interested in sponsoring a child at our center please click here and read about each of our children. Once you have chosen child you would like to sponsor please use the "subscribe" button and chose to sponsor a child for $35. By choosing this option your donation will come out of your bank account automatically every month. Please also put the name of the child you wish to sponsor. We will send you quartly updates on your child and we will keep you up to date on all the WIL Community Center on our Facebook page.

Please donate to WIL using our this donate button. You can also write a check payable to Walk In Love International and mail it to 12802 S Arapaho Dr Olathe, Ks 66062. All donations over $250 will get an automatic tax form in the mail or email. If the amount is under $250 please request one.
